FullContact for Gmail 1.1 – Favorites, Google Calendar Support and More

contactspls | March 19, 2015

It’s been a few weeks since we officially released FullContact for Gmail into the wild. To say that we’ve been blown away by the reception would be an understatement. Your feedback has been incredibly important to us, and today we’re pleased to bring you the first major update of FullContact for Gmail. Version 1.1 of our Gmail plugin brings with it three of your most-requested features, and a bevy of interface and visual updates as well.

If you’ve not been using FullContact for Gmail, what are you waiting for? It’s a simple sidebar that sits inside of your Gmail window on Google Chrome, but the power that it brings you is incredible. Learn more about anyone who emails you, or anyone that you’re emailing. See information like their Twitter updates, find data about their company, add them to your Google Contacts with just a click and so much more.

Now, without further ado, let’s take a look at the changes in 1.1 –

New Features

Faster and smoother loading

We’ve significantly improved the loading speed for profiles, so you should see information appear much faster than before. We’ve also removed our loading screens and motivational quotes in favor of a more graceful and subtle approach.

In addition, we’ve smoothed out the process of switching between people. The sidebar should only switch to a new person when you’ve done something that suggests you want to see someone new, such as hover over their name or open a new email thread.

Support for Google Calendar and Google Contacts

Now you can know more about the people with whom you’re scheduling meetings, and you can find important information about the people stored in your Google Contacts as well.

You’ll see the FullContact sidebar appear in Calendar invites, so you can research all the invitees of a meeting. In Google Contacts, you’ll see the sidebar next to lists of contacts as well as specific contact records. If you prefer not to see our sidebar in these places, you can adjust your preferences in Settings.

Favorites Sync

You can now add a contact as a favorite right inside of your Gmail. Your favorites will also sync across your entire FullContact account, whether you’re using your address book on the web, FullContact for iOS on your phone, or inside of Gmail.

Auto-Save

For those of you who like to customize your FullContact for Gmail appearance, you’ll now find that those changes auto-save as you work with them. No more fear of lost changes!

UI/UX Improvements

  • Updated interface for the Company tab
  • A new spinner will show when actions are taking longer than expected
  • Updates to the photo picker
  • Prompt about unsaved changes when editing Google Contacts
  • Sign Out button moved to Settings, away from accidental clicks in the footer

We think you’re going to love the new updates to FullContact for Gmail. Ready to get started? Download the plugin from the Chrome Web Store and experience your Gmail on steroids.
