Introducing FullContact for Gmail 2.0

contactspls | February 3, 2016

A little more than a year ago, we released FullContact for Gmail – a Chrome extension that lets you unlock the full power of your address book, right from your Gmail inbox. Since then, it’s become a staple in the lives of tens of thousands of professionals around the world.

In response to your feedback over the past year, we’ve been working to improve the experience of FullContact for Gmail. Over the last week, we’ve rolled out a new version to most of our existing users – and today we’re happy to announce it to the world.

Here are some of the new features you can expect:

A cleaner look for greater efficiency

FullContact for Gmail sidebar

FullContact now sports a simplified, cleaner interface in Gmail to help you work more efficiently.

First, we’ve created a narrower sidebar to better match Gmail’s design, reduce visual clutter, and accommodate different screen sizes and user preferences.

We also did an overall sweep to simplify the interface and make it easier to get the info you need. You’ll only see key fields when you first load contact information. Additional fields are accessible when you edit.

The FullContact sidebar will now show up by default in your main Gmail inbox, any specific email thread, a meeting entry in Google Calendar, as well as Google Contacts. If you don’t want to see the sidebar in one of these places, you can adjust this behavior in Settings.

Find the right contacts

We’ve also improved FullContact for Gmail’s search functionality. If you use our apps for web, iOS, or Android, you’re used to names autocompleting when you start to search. You’ll now notice the same behavior in FullContact for Gmail, helping you find the right contacts much more quickly.

When there’s more than one result, you’ll also see instant results for contacts, tags, and advanced operators in a drop-down menu as you search.

Want to use other extensions? Consider it done.

To make it easier to toggle the sidebar from visible to hidden, the hide/show button with the FullContact logo now sits in the email toolbar. Minimizing is now as easy as clicking a button in your toolbar.

Furthermore, our new layout should play much nicer with other popular extensions that show up in Gmail, such as Rapportive, Sidekick, Streak, Boomerang, SalesforceIQ, and others.

Save time

Perhaps most importantly, we’ve made FullContact much faster.

To see what we mean, just hover over an email address; you’ll notice that contact information loads much faster and more efficiently than ever.

As a FullContact for Gmail user, these new features should already be live in your inbox (with more to come in the near future).

As always, if you experience any problems or have any feedback, please email us at support@fullcontact.com. We’ll be happy to look into it.

If you’re not already using FullContact for Gmail, go try it out today! You’ll be glad you did.
